International Day of Cooperatives

According to the UN, the co-operative model is a leading solution to inequalities around the world because utilizes various aspects of sustainable development and is based on ethical values and principles. Cooperatives work as economic actors that create job opportunities and income generation; are people-centered rather than capital- centered, thus improving social equity and justice; and are community-based and democratic in nature by involving community members in their development.

This model is vital to achieving UN Sustainability Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by 2030. To learn more about Cooperatives and their role in community development, visit https://www.un.org/en/events/cooperativesday/background.shtml
